The Workshops
Students will paint locations in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, predominantly in the southern San Juan Mountains. At this time, summer workshops for 2010 are full. Please "Contact the Artist" to be added to the waiting list and to receive information on the 2011 schedule.

These intensive, four-day workshops are limited to eight participants to allow for personal interaction between the student artist and Rick Howell.
The day starts at 8:30 am with coffee in the courtyard of Rick's 150-year-old adobe complex , formerly the general store for the little hamlet of Mogote, Colorado, five miles from the New Mexico border.
We will talk about our destinations that will allow for two plein air paintings per day, with a mid-day, personal break for lunch, relaxation, or exploration of the stunning, yet subtle, beauty of the Conejos Canyon area.
After a full and rewarding four days, the workshop wraps up with an evening barbeque prepared by a local Mogote native and served in the courtyard.
Accommodations
Several fishing cabins are within walking distance of Rick Howell Fine Art studio. Prices range from $75-$120 per night for a two-bedroom cabin, many with kitchen facilities. The nearby historic town of Antonito offers several dining options, if you prefer not to cook.
Along with a materials list, information on cabin rentals will be emailed to you upon paid registration.

Mentoring
At the request of several private students, a Mentoring Program is now available to previous students interested in having Rick critique their work and provide long-distance coaching using a combination of the Internet and scheduled phone calls.
